China’s Imported Chicken Products in H1 2022


From the perspective of import sources of chicken products in H1 2022, Brazil, the United States, Russia, Argentina, and Thailand boast the top five source countries, accounting for 44.77%, 29.26%, 8.79%, 5.23%, and 4.77% respectively. Among these markets, U.S. market share of chicken products has been decreased significantly by 5.16 pct due to HPAI. Thailand’s market proportion fell to 4.77% in H1 2022 from 7.41% in H1 2021, which was mainly because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some plants voluntarily suspended their products exporting to China. As of press time, GACC resumed the import declaration of chicken products by four Thailand companies in July 2022 with the epidemic gradually being controlled and the number of Thai poultry companies exporting to China had recovered to 20. China remains the second largest export market for Thailand. It’s believed that the export volume from Thailand to China will rise in H2 this year.
